On 17 April 1971, the oath of acceptance of Bangladesh's first temporary government took place in the historic Amarkanan of Baidyanathtala village under Meherpur Sadar Police Station (now Mujibnagar upazila) of Meherpur district. In this oath taking ceremony, various journalists from abroad have been present in the world for the formation of an independent Bangladesh government.
This historic event promotes the new life of Bangladesh's liberation war and legitimizes the legitimacy of Bangladesh government. Mujibnagar memorials are built in place of historic oath. Those monuments and historic Amarkanan will attract the attention of any tourist.
